13/03/20: CARLES & SOFIA'S SOUTH KOREA TOUR POSTPONED

Due to the global situation of the COVID'19, Carles & Sofia's concerts in Seoul have been canceller and postponed till further notice. Carles & Sofia are following the instructions of the governament and stay at home.

12/02/20: CARLES & SOFIA AT PRESTIGIOUS SALA VERDI IN MILANO

Carles & Sofia presented the program "From Italy to Spain" in the prestigious Sala Verdi, in Milano. They premiered some Vivaldi, Puccini and Verdi transcriptions, for the delight of the enthousiastic audience.

18/01/20: CARLES AS A JURY MEMBER OF MACAO PIANO COMPETITION

From 18th to 20th of January 2020, Carles was a membre of the jury of Macao International Piano Competition. The competition was extremely well organised and there were many very talented contestants.

01/12/19: GERMANY OFFERS STANDING OVATIONS TO CARLES & SOFIA

Carles & Sofia have performed in beautiful hall Oberreinhalle in Oldenburg and also in Borken (Both in Germany). Lieder for four hands and Ravel's La Valse made the German public to stand up to cheer the pianists.

19/10/19: USA TOUR: STANDING OVATIONS IN ALL CONCERTS

Carles & Sofia piano duo have performed in Springfiled, Town of Kiawah, Sarasota and Tampa in their USA tour, with four different programs. In all of the concerts they received stanging ovations.

12/10/19: CARLES & SOFIA ESPECIALLY INVITED TO PLAY BERLIOZ IN PARIS

Carles & Sofia piano duo were especially invited in Paris, to play the version for piano four hands of Berlioz'Symphonie Fantastique, as part of the commemoration events of the French composer's 150th anniversary of death. French public received the pianists with a standing ovation.

29/09/19: CATALAN HEART IN BESALÚ

Carles & Sofia piano duo have launched a new CD, "Catalan Heart", with the music of their childhood, popular Catalan songs, in arrangements for piano four hands, of young composer Andreu Diport.

11/08/19: ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL "AND THE WINNER IS..."

Sant Pere de Rodes was again the witness of another successful edition of "And the Winner Is..." for piano four hands and string orchestra, the 11th and 12of of August. This time, with the new orchestra "Solistes de Catalunya". Standing ovation on both concerts.

14/07/19: CARLES MEMBER OF JURY OF SANTA CECILIA PIANO COMPETITION

Carles has been again invited to take part as a jury of the prestigious Santa Cecilia International Piano Competition. The competition took place from the 14th to the 21st of July, 2019. After several rounds, the winner is selected in the final with orchestra.

19/05/19: WORLD PREMIERE: CONCIERTO FLAMENCO

Carles & Sofia piano duo will premiere the Concierto Flamenco for piano four hands and symphonic orchestra with the OJC and Alfons Reverté. The concerto includes "palmas" and "cajón flamenco". The performance will be held at the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona.

08/05/19: CARLES & SOFIA LAUNCH A SECOND VERSION OF SCHUBERT'S FANTASY FOR KNS CLASSICAL

On the 8th of May 1989 Carles & Sofia performed for the firts time Schubert's Fantasy in F Minor. After recording a first version in 2001, now 30 years later of the first performance, they launch a second version of the masterwork.

AND THE WINNER IS: LAST CONCERT OF 2018

As the last concert of 2018, Carles & Sofia piano duo performed the program "And the Winner Is..." in the luxury Hotel Camiral, at the PGA Catalunya on the 28th of December. The public was enthousiastic about their performance.

29/11/18: OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF CD BRAHMS LIEDER IN HAMBURG

Carles & Sofia piano duo officially launched the CD Brahms Lieder, with the transcriptions for four hands of Christoph Ewers at the Altonaer Museum in Hamburg. The event was co-hosted by the Patronat de Turisme Girona Costa Brava and was very successful.

02/09/18: WOLRD PREMIERE: BRAHMS LIEDER FOR FOUR HANDS

Carles & Sofia present a unique and exclusive project: Brahms Lieder for piano four hands, in transcriptions of Christoph Ewers. The concert took place in SIndelfingen for the joy of the public of Ewers'birth city. The official launch of the CD will take place in November in Hamburg, where Brahms was born.

Carles & Sofia premiered a new program of "And the Winner Is..." in Sant Pere de Rodes, with new transcriptions for piano four hands and string orchestra, like Avatar, Mamma Mia, Pearl Harbor, The Tourist... Sold out for two days!

27/06/18: THAILAND TOUR: EL AMOR BRUJO

Carles & Sofia made another Thailand tour, from the 26th of June to the 3rd of July, with concerts in Bangkok, Pattaya and Hua-Hin, as well as several Master-Classes in Bangkok. With a program with lieder by Brahms and "El Amor Brujo" by Manuel de Falla.

18/05/18: RYLA IN BARCELONA: SYMPHONY OF LEADERSHIP

Carles & Sofia have been the promotors and main sponsors of the RYLA in Barcelona, called "Symphony of Leadership". RYLA stands for Rotary Youth Leadership Award and gives young people the opportunity to learn from various leaders of the world. Carles & Sofia inspired youngsters with their lectures.

01/04/18:MOZART REQUIEM IN THE ROMAN CHURCH OF BESALU

Carles & Sofia performed again Czerny's transcription of Mozart's Requiem, with a great success, in the Roman church of Besalú, the medieval town in the province of Girona. Another standign ovation received the four-hands duet.

10/03/18: CARLES & SOFIA AWARDED THE CRUZ EUROPEA DE ORO

In a formal ceremony and subsequent gala dinner, Carles & Sofia piano duo have been presented the Cruz Europea de Oro for their professional career, a distinction that has been presented to Placido Domingo, Daniel Barenboim or Jordi Savall, among others.

25/02/18: GERMANY TOUR

Carles & Sofia piano duo have performed three concerts in Germany, in the Schloss Ribbeck, in Unna and in Adelsheim. In all the concerts they performed a program with the most demanding transcriptions for piano four hands, such as Tannhauser's Overture or Ravel's La Valse, as well as some Debussy.

25/11/17: MOZART'S REQUIEM AT THE CATHEDRAL OF GIRONA

In a full-packed cathedral of Girona, Carles & Sofia performed Carl Czerny's transcription for piano four hands of Mozart's masterwork: the Requiem. Standing ovation for the performers, who expressed all the drama, feelings and lyricism of Mozart's piece.

26/10/17: CARLES & SOFIA CELEBRATE 30th ANNIVERSARY IN GIRONA

Carles & Sofia began playing together, as a piano duo, back in October 1987. In October 2017, they have started a big tour of celebrations in their home town, Girona. They took this opportunity to premiere the "Suite for Catalonia" by Andreu Diport.

Carles & Sofia have been awarded the European Medal of Merit in the Work in Madrid, Spain. The award was presented to them in recognition of the 30 years of career together, as Carles & Sofia piano duo.

14/05/17: CONCERTS4GOOD FOR IDIBGI

Concerts4Good, Carles & Sofia's solidarity project took place in Girona, with a film music concert for piano four hands and string orchestra. The benefits of the concert were for the IDIBGI (Insitut of Biomedical Research in Girona). The concert was a big success. Standing ovation.

28/04/17: CARLES & SOFIA AWARDED THE PRESTIGIOUS "ESTRELLA DE ORO A LA EXCELENCIA PROFESIONAL"

Carles & Sofia were presented the "Estrella de Oro a la Excelencia Profesional" for their achievements after 30 years of career together. The award was presented in Madrid, Spain. It's a recognition given to professionals that have excelled in their achievements.

Hong Kong City Hall has hosted a Spanish music recital by Carles & Sofia piano duo, with a selection of Goyescas in the first half and Albéniz and Falla in the second.

13/04/17: MOZART'S REQUIEM FOR PIANO FOUR HANDS

During Holy Week Carles & Sofia have performed Mozart's Requiem for piano four hands, in the transcription of Carl Czerny in two diifferent halls of Barcelona's province.

26/03/17: USA TOUR

From Town of Kiawah to New York City, going through Florida, Carles & Sofia have performed several concerts with the opera Goyescas and have taught master-classes. They also gave a lecture upon the subject "The màgic element of success".

26/01/17: GOYESCAS AGAIN ON TOUR IN 2017

Carles & Sofia's first concert of the year was held at Enric Granados'Hall in Lleida (birth city of the composar) and almost one month later the duo performed the opera again in Mataró, Barcelona. In both cases, the públic received the performance of the duo enthousiastically.

09/11/16: LAST GOYESCAS OF THE YEAR. MADEIRA & GIRONA

On the 9th of November in Madeira and on the 20th of November in Girona (the birth city of Carles & Sofia), the duo performed the two last "Goyescas" of 2016. Both concerts were very successful and extremely warmly received by the public who completely filled the halls.

09/10/16: SOUTH AFRICA TOUR: GOYESCAS

Johannesburg, Pretoria, Sassolburg, Hermanus and Durban have enjoyed the performances of Carles & Sofia, playing their transcription of Granados'Opera "Goyescas", made by Abraham Espinosa. All the concerts were fully packed and the public was thrilled with the duo.

02/09/16: CHINA BIG TOUR: GOYESCAS

Carles & Sofia have toured all China, from the North to the South, with their transcription for piano four hands of the opera "Goyescas" by Enric Granaods. The duo performed 10 concerts and taught 3 master-classes.

03/04/16: THAILAND TOUR. GOYESCAS

At the beginning of April, between the 3rd and the 9th, Carles & Sofia piano duo made a tour with "Goyescas" in Thailand, performing in the cities of Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Pattaya and Hua-Hin. The opera, in the transcription for piano four hands, was received again with great enthousiasm.

26/03/16: MOZART'S REQUIEM FOR PIANO FOUR HANDS

Carles & Sofia performed three times Carl Czerny's transcription for piano four hands of Mozart's Requiem. The concerts took place in Catalonia during Wholy Week. Public welcomed enthousiastically the powerful and delicate version of the duet.

07/02/16: SUCCESSFUL USA TOUR

After the premiere of "Goyescas" at Carnegie Hall, Carles & Sofia completed a successful tour in USA, performing the opera in different halls of Texas (Wesleyan University and Arlington Texas University) and Florida (University of South Florida). The transcription for piano four hands has been welcomed with standing ovations everywhere.

With a full house, Carles & Sofia received a standing ovation at Carnegie Hall (Weill Hall), last 28th of January, when premiering the four hands version of Granados'Opera "Goyescas". The program included also Ravel's La Valse.

28/01/16: WORLD PREMIERE: GOYESCAS AT CARNEGIE HALL

One hundred years to the day after the Metropolitan Opera premiere of Granados’s opera Goyescas, the 28th of January, Carles & Sofia Piano Duo present a new version of the work, in a transcription for piano four hands made by Abraham Espinosa. After Carnegie Hall premiere, the duo will present "Goyescas" in other cities of the USA, in Italy, Germany, Spain, Croatia and in China and Thailand.

06/09/15: NEW PROGRAM FOR CARLES & SOFIA: LIEDER TRANSCRIPTIONS

Carles & Sofia have premiered a complete new program of Lieder trascriptions for piano four hands in Germany, in the Internationale Sommerserenaden in Sindelfingen. Transcriptions have been made by Christoph Ewers. The program included Schubert and Brahms' lieder and was a great success.

15/08/15: AND THE WINNER IS... SOLD OUT

Carles&Sofia's exclusve project "And the Winner Is...", a film music concert for piano four hands and chamber orchestra was sold out for the two performances that took place on 15th and 16th of August in the prestigious Festival de Sant Pere de Rodes. The performance was a benefit concert for the project "Life for Africa VTT" of the Rotary International Foundation.

07/08/15: CARLES & SOFIA'S SUMMER TOUR

Carles & Sofa have been very busy in July and August, with several concerts in France, Germany and Italy: they have performed piano four hands recitals with different programs in prestigious festivals in Offenburg, Tricastin, Tuscany and Ardèche.

19/06/15: WORLD PREMIERE: CONCIERTO FOLKLORICO

Carles & Sofia premiered the symphonic version of John Carmichael's "Concierto Folklórico" for piano four hands, in Montevideo, at the Auditorio del SODRE, together with the Orquesta Juvenil del SODRE and Ariel Britos, as the conductor.

12/06/15: CARLES & SOFIA AT THE PALAU DE LA MÚSICA

An exclusive program of film music for piano four hands and chamber orchestra was performed by Carles & Sofia piano duo at the Palau de la Música, in Barcelona in occasion of a new Concerts4Good. The duo performed with Orchestra Concerts4Good-Terres de Marca, under the conducting of Daniel Mestre. The benefits of the concert went to the charity "Obra Benèfico Social del Nen Déu"

16/04/2015: WORLD PREMIERE. VIBRATIONS OF HOPE

Carles & Sofia will premiere the version for piano four hands of Z. Browning's "Vibrations of Hope" in Budapest, on the Memorial Day of the Holocaust. The piece was written in 2013, as the response of the tragedy occured at Sandy Hook Elementary School and has lots of technical complexities and rhythm changes.

20/03/15: CARLES & SOFIA ON A USA TOUR

Carles & Sofia performed with great success (standing ovation) at the Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC, in the 31st editon of the Annual Piano Cinic. The day after the concert, they taught a Mater-Class and lectured for professors and students of the Piano Cinic. The tour ended in New York, with a concert in the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library.

25/02/15: CARLES & SOFIA PERFORM WITH ORCHESTRA IN ISTANBUL

Carles & Sofia have been invited to perform with orchestra in Istanbul, Turkey, On a "Spanish" night, the duo performed the brilliant "Concierto Folklórico" by John Carmichael, for piano four hands and orchestra, under Can Okan as a conductor.

Carles & Sofia piano duo wll performa Beethoven's "Eroica" Symphony for piano four hands in their home town, Girona, on the 20th of February in the Auditori de Girona. The Symphony was premiered in 2013 in the Fundación Juan March in Madrid.

24/11/2014: CARLES & SOFIA PIANO DUO END THE SEASON IN BARI, ITALY

Carles & Sofia have ended their season in the beautiful Van Westerhout Theatre, in Mola di Bari, Italy. They will now devote to practice new repertoire and make some recordings for next season and also to have some holidays with their daughters, during Christmas time.

A very especial show has been presented by Carles & Sofia piano duo and the Hamburg Ballett in the Festival de Sant Pere de Rodes. With music by Debussy, Ravel and Wagner, the duo and the dancers have made a personal tribute to the great painter Salvador Dalí.

Carles & Sofia's personal solidarity project "Concerts4Good, Music on a Mission" arrived to Bilbao. One of the two concerts held in the capital of the Basque Country was performed by the duo. Public filled up the hall at the University of Deusto.
